Mr and Mrs Thos Watkinson, 59 Lytham Rd, Marshside, have received official notification that their son, Private George Watkinson, Loyal North Lancashires, was found dead in his billet behind the trenches on August 24th The deceased soldier, who was 23 years of age, was wounded on Easter Sunday of this year, but had rejoined the regiment, and was in rest billet, previous to going into the trenches. He was well known in the Marshside district, and was secretary of the Marshside Football Club.
