The death is announced in action of Capt Harold Ackroyd M.C., R.A.M.C., brother of Lieut Edward Ackroyd of 8 Morley Rd, Southport, and son of Mr Edward Ackroyd, for many years chairman of the Southport and Cheshire Lines Extension Railway Company. He was educated at Mr Clough's School, Southport, and then proceeded to Shrewsbury, and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He went to France in August 1915, and was awarded the Military Cross in the following year for conspicuous bravery as a battalion doctor. He was slightly wounded on 31st July, but remaining on duty, was killed in action on the 11th August. Much sympathy will be felt towards his wife and three children.
