Community project "Remembering and Honouring a Generation Damaged by War". The aim of Weedon's own commemorations is to recognise and honour a complete generation in this Village who were damaged by the war. A website (www.weedon1914-1919.co.uk), a Facebook Group and twitter account have been created to keep people informed about the events being planned throughout the period 2014-2018 and possibly into 2019 when the Armistice was signed. People will also be able to request to join the page and take part in the sharing of information, photographs, ideas, education and recognition of the part the people of Weedon Bec played in this momentous period of time in our history. Not only did a generation of men and women go to war, but the women and children of this village played their part for King, Country and Empire. The social changes which swept the United Kingdom and the Empire were the most significant to the status quo since the industrial revolution in 1760 and when the modern world as we know it today began. "At the going down of the sun, we will remember them"
