    The 1914 Star - more commonly known as The Mons Star - awarded to my grandfather. The clasp is missing but a rosette on the medal ribbon bar represents the clasp, indicating that a soldier was in France, within range of enemy mobile artillery, from 5 August to 22/23 November 1914.
