Title: Sgt Henry John Allen

Description: Henry Allen's photograph was used a number of times in the newspapers of the day reporting incidents during the war and then finally when he died.

Additional: Sgt Allen's niece, Mrs Winnie Thorn, holds the original photograph as well as the funeral card which includes the photograph. Henry Allen was known to the family in Fairwarp as Harry. His widow and child moved to Canada and the family in Fairwarp lost touch with them. Winnie's mother, Sgt Allen's sister, always wondered what had happened to her brother's little boy.
