The is the address side of the notification of death telegram which Alfred's family received. It was sent to Mr Rowland of 164 East Barnet Road, New Barnet.

This is the original telegram which was received by Alfred's family, officially notifying them of his death. It was sent on 9th January 1919, over 4 months after his death. It says that he was a gunner with the Royal Field Artillery, although his medal roll index card and photograph show that he was, in fact, a bombardier (one stripe on his arm). It told the family that Alfred is buried in Bienvillers Military Cemetery, 84m south-west of Arras.

This is the certificate which was created by the CWGC in memorial to Alfred Rowland. It shows a picture of the burial ground, along with his details. He was registered as a Gunner in the graves registration report form though his uniform (stripe on arm and bandolier across his chest) and medal rolls index card show him as a Bombardier.
