Copy of the Birth Certificate for Albert CooperAlbert was born 13 July 1892, at 1,Longworth Bank, Edgworth. Lancashire. His parents were Charles Cooper, a stone Quarry man and Ann, nee Knowles. The copy is dated 1905 as this was needed to prove his age before Albert was allowed to start work, aged 13.

Marriage Certificate of Albert CooperAlbert Cooper married Ethel Maden, 26 June 1920 at Haslinden Parish Church, Rossendale, Lancashire. Albert was a labourer at Know Mill Printworks, Edgworth and Ethel worked at a slipper factory.Contributed by:

Demobilisation Card of Albert Cooper, RFA 116491This card provided the date Albert Attested, 7 December 1915, this was in his own village of Edgworth, Lancashire. He was demobilised to Army Reserve 14 March 1919, assessed as medical category A1. Apart from his DCM award there are no other army records for Albert.Contributed by:

Distinguished Conduct MedalD.C.M. Award; Corporal A. Cooper, R.F.A. attd. Y/24 T.M. Bty. (Edgworth) "For conspicious gallantry and devotion to duty. He carried the battery's rations through a heavy barrage. When put in charge of trench mortar, he caused heavy casualties amongst the enemy. Later he carried a wounded man to the dressing station half a mile away under heavy fire. He has always shown the greatest courage under trying conditions and given a splendid lead to the men under him".Contributed by:
