In this church on 26-4-1914, Alfred William Hames, (known as Walter), 31, a coachman of Wimbledon married Isabella Mary Trimmer, 35 of Badshot Lea. Her sister, Hilda Maude Trimmer, of Fondulac Villas,married Alfred Mellor in Dec 1914. Alfred joined the East Surrey Regiment as Pte 30641, but later transfered to the 24th Royal Fusiliers as G/60862. He was killed on 29-4-1917. near Oppy village and is remembered on the Arras Memorial. After the war Isabella Mary Hames lived at 7 Ashbourne Terrace, Gladstone Road, Wimbledon.
