James's birth record, earlier census records and their marriage record show they were both born in Watten, Caithness.On his marriage certificate James was an Engine Room Artificier in the Royal navy.Jeanie and James were cousins of my father so there names were also known.

Description: This record just shows James Water's service record from 1915 but we know from his marriage record in 1903 (Engine Room Artificer in the Royal Navy) and the 1911 Census (Chief Engine Room Artificer) that he had joined the Royal Navy before WW1. It also shows he retired in 1922.
