Some family background

Some family background

David Wylie Hall was my Grandmother's half brother. The family have researched as much of his story as we can. He was born in Scotland, emigrated to the USA (date to be confirmed), left New York in July 1917, crossed into Canada and enlisted the same day into the Canadian Infantry. His Attestation papers list his father as NOK with an address in Kingglassie, Fife. He joined the 58th (Brantford) Battalion and shipped to France. My father aged 8/9,remembered meeting him when he was on leave in Scotland. He is listed (CWGC) as dying of wounds on 28 August 1918 during the Battle of Amiens. A book , "Second to None" gives the history of the 58th and he is listed in the casualty figures. I have his Memorial Plaque but his War Medal and Victory Medal were stolen in a burglary in January 2013. If anyone has them I would buy them back.
