Inquest verdict

known 2nd November 1917

"A verdict of death by misadventure was returned at an inquest at Dartford on Monday on the body of Captain Henry Hall Griffith, RFC, who met with a fatal accident on Friday afternoon. The evidence showed that the deceased went up with a sergeant for the purpose of testing the engine of an aeroplane, and after ascending to a height of 800ft. he looped the loop. The machine made a steady nose dive, and crashed on to a barge which was being towed up the Thames. Captain Griffith was instantly killed and the sergeant was seriously injured. Prior to the war deceased was a solicitor’s clerk articled to his father, who lives in Brighton."
