Both of Vernon William Nutkins' parents appear to have died by 1911. Unfortunately, their deaths do not appear to be on the official indexes. Vernon's mother remarried in 1905. Therefore (unless the couple had divorced) Vernon's father, William George Nutkins, had died before then. And the 1911 census records Stanley George Balls - the second husband of Vernon's mother Emilie Hilda Nutkins - as being a widower. Emilie may have died at the time of, or not long after the late 1906 / early 1907 birth of Dorothy Gwendolen Balls, her daughter by Stanley George Balls - Vernon's stepsister.
