Born in Chelgrave and resided in Hockliffe, 22385 Private Frederick CHASE (19) enlisted at Ampthill and arrived on 9 August 1915 at the Bedfordshire Training Depot in Ampthill Great Park, Ampthill. He was drafted to join the British Expeditionary Force and serve with the Bedfordshire Regiment, 6th Battalion. Private Chase was killed in action on 10 July 1916, aged about 20 years and is of no known grave.
