Death of Walter Edwin Clinch

Sussex Express - Friday 04 March 1921 FATALITY TO A HEATHFIELD MAN. A fatal accident befell Mr. Walter Edwin Clinch, of Heathfield, on Wednesday evening, near Gardner Street, Herstmonceux. Deceased, who was a retired soldier, and who did jobbing work, undertook to take a couple of colts to Herstmonceux and started from Cade Street about 5 p.m., riding one and leading the other. What happened to cause the accident is not known, but deceased was picked up in an unconscious condition by Mr. Walter Darvil, of Hastings, who put him in his motor car and took him to the Princess Alice Memorial Hospital, Eastbourne, where he passed away at a quarter to three yesterday (Thursday) morning without regaining consciousness. He was the elder son of Mr. C. Clinch, of Maynards Green. He served 21 years in the R.F.A. and retired on pension about eleven years ago.
