The crew were – Lt Henry Lloyd Hammond [pilot], 2nd Lt Wilfred Henry Brinkworth [observer], and Sergeant Henry Thomas Pheby [gunlayer]. . 04:08:1918 D4567 never returned – missing. 10:08:1918 Reported on Missing List. 05:12:1920 “Death of Officer accepted as having taken place on or since 4:8:1918”. After the war it was confirmed that they were shot down at Fives, seven miles north west of Metz, and all killed. Sergeant Henry Thomas Pheby’s name is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, to the British and Commonwealth airmen who have no known grave. RIP.
