The photograph of Roger Meyrick Heath in the Album dedicated to Henbury Servicemen on display during WW1 in Henbury Parish Church, has the information in the bottom left hand corner that he was Newdigate Prizeman in 1911. The Newdigate Prize, is a poetry prize founded in 1805 by Sir Roger Newdigate and awarded at the University of Oxford. The award is given annually for the best student poem of up to 300 lines on a given subject. The winner recites the poem at commencement exercises. The prize was awarded to Roger Meyrick Heath in 1911.
