HMS Narborough was an M class Destroyer of the 13th Flotilla, attached to Vice-Admiral Beatty's Battlecruiser Fleet at Jutland. Narborough took part in the torpedo attack by the 13th DF against enemy Destroyers, but suffered no damage or casualties, and subsequently took on the role of senior officer amongst surviving ships. Note: The spelling 'Narbrough' is used in some official documents, but the ship was named after Admiral Sir John Narborough and the spelling used for this Community is that used in official Jutland despatches. This Community includes all those who served in the ship at Jutland. The ship was subsequently refitted and recommissioned during 1917 with a new crew, all of whom were lost when the ship was wrecked along with HMS Opal early in 1918 while attempting to regain Scapa Flow during a blizzard. A separate community exists for that crew, linked below. To share, or request, information, please email: gerrycostellofww[at]gmail.com
