Winchester College, founded in 1382 by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, lost 514 former pupils (Old Wykehamists) during WW1. These are commemorated on http://www.winchestercollegeatwar.com Approximately five times this number served in uniform, and many others contributed to the war effort in medical services and in scientific, political and diplomatic roles. This community remembers those on LFWW who were former members of Du Boulay's House, one of ten such commoner houses along with the Scholars of College. The house was named after the first Housemaster, Rev J T H Du Boulay (three of whose sons are included in this community) but is informally known as Cook's after its second Housemaster. This community is a work in progress and is unlikely to be completed before LFWW is frozen to be incorporated in the IWM's permanent digital memorial. However, it is being undertaken in cooperation with staff from Winchester College with a view to an eventual website covering the WW1 war service of Old Wykehamists.
