Second Ostend Raid: 9-10 May 1918
The second raid on Ostend in May 1918 was a follow up operation to that carried out in April that year. The aim was to sink block ships (HMS Vindictive and HMS Sappho) in Ostend Harbour in order to bottle up German forces. Three VCs were awarded to those who took part in the operation but it was a failure. This community remembers those who took part.
